ECOCITÉ and Building Green Live in something truly special! ECOCITÉ™'s buildings are the result of a holistic design process, aimed to balance cost with long term environmental impact and the health and happiness of the residents. A measurable step forward in urban living, the EcoCité’s EcoCondo™ allows residents to make a significant reduction of their footprint on the environment, while saving money and improving their health. Better yet, you can have all this in a home that is far beyond the conventional "white box" feel of many condominiums. Particular green features vary from project to project, but generally include centralized locations, flexible spaces that can change over time, energy and resource efficiency, green energy sources, roof-top green spaces and sustainable, non-toxic building materials. Green buildings are also healthy buildings as plenty of daylight, a constant supply of fresh air, non-toxic materials, vegetation and gardens ensure a healthy mind and body. At a time of increasing concern about environmental degradation, climate change and rising energy costs, you will enjoy quantifiable savings that include a decrease in resource use, energy consumption, water consumption and solid and liquid waste. Choosing an EcoCondo™ is a financially sound investment because you will save money every year forever! The higher energy rates climb, the more money you will save. Design Standards ECOCITÉ designs to a number of standards. From an environmental standpoint, we strive to meet Leadership in Environment and Energy Design (LEED) (http://www.cagbc.org) and Natural Resources Canada's Energy Efficiency Program (http://oee.nrcan.gc.ca/ ) standards. These are third party certification programs meant to assure consumers that the home that they are purchasing is in fact green and/or energy efficient. On a second level we developed EcoCité’s “jewel standard” of development. We try to imagine every prospective project as part of our long term portfolio of projects. We consider this portfolio of work akin to a treasure chest of gems; each project must create, in certain ways, unique, special places in the world. Thus, in evaluating a potential project we ask ourselves the following: will this project contribute something positive to the community? Will this project push the envelope of residential green development? Will this project challenge our creativity? Would we live in this project? A jewel of a project can be all this and more, and that is what we strive for with all EcoCité developments. |
