Design Standards ECOCITÉ designs to a number of standards. From an environmental standpoint, we strive to meet Leadership in Environment and Energy Design (LEED) (http://www.cagbc.org) and Natural Resources Canada's Energy Efficiency Program (http://oee.nrcan.gc.ca/ ) standards. These are third party certification programs meant to assure consumers that the home that they are purchasing is in fact green and/or energy efficient. On a second level we developed EcoCité’s “jewel standard” of development. We try to imagine every prospective project as part of our long term portfolio of projects. We consider this portfolio of work akin to a treasure chest of gems; each project must create, in certain ways, unique, special places in the world. Thus, in evaluating a potential project we ask ourselves the following: will this project contribute something positive to the community?
