Building Features
Heating and Cooling. The building is heated by fossil-free
geothermal energy, which supplies hot water to each
condo for radiant in-floor heating. This system also
circulates cool air throughout each unit during warmer
periods.
The passive solar design of the building (i.e. windows,
shading, mass, orientation) maximizes the absorption of
winter sun, while shading blocks the heat of the summer
sun. This design optimizes comfort throughout the
seasons, while reducing your energy consumption.
Ventilation. The fresh air exchange from each unit occurs an average of 8 times per day via an energy recovery ventilator.
Frequent exchanges of air on an individual unit basis ensures optimal indoor air quality.
Water. Dual flush super low flow toilets and high performance low flow showerheads will drastically reduce the
water consumption of each home owner. Every unit is designed to accommodate front-loading water-efficient washing machines.
Envelope. All units are equipped with expansive super energy efficient windows.
The building is made with a light-gauge recycled steel building system, with a super insulated envelope with very low air leakage.
Off-site construction in a controlled environment, ensures better quality, faster construction and reduced waste during
construction.
Flexibility. Clear structural spans, and few interior load-bearing walls allow for easy renovation over time.
Materials are chosen to meet the Healthy Housing recommendations of the Canada Mortgage and Housing
Corporation. By selecting low off-gas paints and caulkings, glues and adhesives, you will not be exposed to all the toxic materials
commonly associated with new construction. Whenever possible, we chose materials from local, recycled or sustainable sources.
Acoustics. Our high-end acoustical separation between units exceeds code standards, so that you can enjoy a greater sense of
privacy within your home. Additionally, superior windows reduce outdoor sound leakage.
Finishes. All units come finished with a warm contemporary interior package, featuring rich bamboo wood flooring, and natural
wood cabinetry with glass and metal accents. We also offer a multitude of optional finish upgrades from our partner, The
Healthiest Home and Building Supplies store.
Appliances. If you are not bringing your own appliances, we can source Energy Star energy efficient appliances in white or
stainless steel.
Storage. Storage lockers are available for purchase in the building.
Transportation: Every unit includes a paid deposit with VrtuCar, a car-by-the-hour fractional car service. Alternatively, there is secured access underground parking for both cars and bicycles.
Waste. The building is equipped for multiple waste stream sorting and collection. |
